Review of Kristin Ingram’s Bookkeeper Training School

When I began my bookkeeping journey, I chose Kristin Ingram’s Bookkeeper Training School course to learn the fundamentals of building a bookkeeping business. At the time I began in early 2021, I could not find any student reviews or testimonials outside of her website. If you are considering a bookkeeping course, I hope you find this review helpful!

What to expect as a member of Bookkeeper Training School:

Self-paced online course

Kristin always says “no one is ever behind in Bookkeeper Training School” because it’s completely self-paced. Composed of seven modules with short videos, info sheets and practical application, you can choose to complete the course in a few weeks or over several months based on your personal schedule. There is always support available no matter where you are in the course.

Seven modules

The course is composed of seven video modules:

  1. Three Keys to Business
    • The course begins with the fundamentals of a business, not only for you as you build a bookkeeping business, but to help you understand your clients’ business set-up and needs.
  2. Understanding Business
    • Choose how your business is set up from a tax perspective and a legal perspective. Learn how these translate to slight differences in a chart of accounts, for your business or for your client’s businesses.
  3. Basics of Bookkeeping and Quickbooks ProAdvisor
    • Understand what bookkeeping is, who needs a bookkeeper, the softwares available and a deeper dive into Quickbooks Online (QBO).
  4. Quickbooks Online (QBO) Certification
    • Discover test-taking tips specific to Quickbooks, video demos of the QBO setup and a bookkeeper’s most-used areas of the cloud-based software
  5. Marketing Your Business
    • Learn how to create a Facebook page (and why waiting to build a website is key), quickly design images in Canva, why you (and your clients) need a business bank account.
  6. Finding Bookkeeping Clients
    • Reset your mindset around marketing and promoting your business with a conversational approach (sometimes referred to as relationship marketing). Establishing yourself as a bookkeeper turns current clients into referral partners which ultimately grows your business!
  7. Serving Your Clients
    • Providing superior customer service in a timely manner to your clients is the ultimate goal. Learn the logistics of creating contracts, onboarding in Quickbooks and automating payments from monthly bookkeeping clients.

Live video calls and replays (as video or podcast)

Bookkeeper Training School comes with access to the Empower Bookkeeper Network which includes weekly live Zoom calls with Kristin herself. Members of BTS submit questions in advance that are answered on the call but we’re all present on the video call together. You can unmute and ask a question, type in the chat, or provide comments to other members during the call. It’s truly a community of learners.

If the live call time doesn’t work into your schedule, you can watch the replay as a video or listen to it as a podcast. Team Ingram, the support team behind BTS, is quick to post within 24-48 hours after the live event.

Even after your initial membership ends, you can renew for continued access to the Empower Bookkeeper Network.

Quickbooks ProAdvisor Certification is built in

Getting QBO certified is built into the course, meaning you don’t need to carve out extra time to get certified. Kristin shares test-taking tips specific to the QBO exam and annual recertification. She is very transparent and even shows how she completes her company’s monthly books in 13 minutes or less.

Finish the course with both QBO and BTS certifications. QBO Certification is achieved through Intuit Quickbooks after you set up a ProAdvisor account and pass the exam. BTS Certification is earned as you move through the course and complete an assessment of each module. Display the certification badge on your website to show your accountability and dedication to education.

What you get from Bookkeeper Training School:

Build a business, learn marketing tactics, develop bookkeeping skills and achieve two certifications while being supported by a network of like-minded women who share a passion for serving their clients without sacrificing time away from their families.

The self-paced nature of BTS allows you to set the speed and ultimately unlock your success as a bookkeeper.

I highly recommend Bookkeeper Training School. Kristin’s course is made for moms who are looking to make a full time income while their kids nap – and all from your home and without crunching numbers. Consider building your business at your own pace among a network of supportive women.
